By the waterside there is near absolute silence and stillness, as little but nature’s own melodies fill the ears of any travelers. It’s peaceful- serene even, a picturesque scenery that Rhydia can’t help but stop her travels and sit down to draw. It’s less of a desire and more of a compulsion, a drive she considers fundamental to her existence.[break][break]

There’s no reason she should have hands if she isn’t going to create art, in her mind. She was sure all the other dedicated artists could agree with such simple logic.[break][break]

The shade of the treeline the artist rests under provides her with adequate protection from the sun’s rays, but not even the dark can hide the way her hair stands out compared to the lush green and clear blue waters of the lake she rests beside, sketching away freely.[break][break]

Curled up behind her is an odd looking Zorua. It’s not asleep, far from it. The spectral trickster is just sitting, watching her, wondering if she’ll turn this place into the same kind of artwork that created it.[break][break]

It knew she was just that kind of malevolent person, after all…

[attr="class","leymain"]Kyurem’s bullshit winter had finally faded for the majority of Hoenn; late spring had arrived, and everything was green, growing, and too fucking humid. Onyx swept his hair up into a ponytail, cursing quietly around the tie in his mouth.

He was thankful things had begun to regulate because the dreary, cold, gray wet of winter was something he did not miss about Galar; but Hoenn was, when normal, entirely too hot. He’d stripped down to a tank top and jeans, the liturgy of crossing, pale scars highly visible on his dark skin.

Amplexus drifted along behind him, carrying a wicker basket slung from one elbow, steadily filling it with flowers and greenery. It was the Gardevoir that noticed the artist, first, drawing closer out of curiosity, until he was peering at the canvas from just a few feet away.

The canvas revealed a recreation of the lakeside, drawn from the exact angle in which the artist sat.[break][break]

The grassy fields gave way to the waters with a fading green, letting it seem as if the land and sea were simply one and the same, fading into one another in perfect harmony. The water’s surface was decorated with numerous fauna, but the most important of them were two Tentacool poking their heads out from the center in unison, surveying the area of the waters they called home.[break][break]

Off in the distant edge of the picture was a child playing with a trio of Flabebe, dancing happily by the waterside alongside the fairy pokémon.[break][break]

Finally- though it would take a bit of a discerning eye to spot- the ends of a balloon could be seen high in the sky above the trees, floating right over the child from afar.[break][break]

It was only after making that final observation that the woman would shift her gaze from her work, settling two eyes just as cold as winter itself on the Gardevoir and its trainer.[break][break]

”Hm? Hello there… curious?” Her voice almost carried warmth, but there was a strange detachment to it, as if her real focus was elsewhere.[break][break]

The pokémon that almost assuredly was something white and red mere moments ago now floated absently behind her in the form of a Sigilyph, as Zorua took up an Illusion to conceal itself at the first sign of another living being.

[attr="class","leymain"] Amplexus inclined his head as he observed the painting, giving the artist a brief nod. One hand came to rest on his basket of flowers as he broadcast a general feeling to her, telekinetically.

Cold.

“Amplexus,” Onyx calls, and the Gardevoir turns to see a Bisharp suddenly cleaving towards them. Amplexus throws out his hand and waves of hypnosis pour off of him, hitting the Bisharp and knocking it out. It’s trajectory carries it forward and it falls at the base of the easel, knocking the legs.

Onyx approaches to toss a Pokeball.

”Cold… yes, I suppose you could call this piece ‘cold’, couldn’t you?” She played dumb, dancing around what she was sure was an observation of her, rather than her art. Psychic types truly were just a bit too perceptive for their own good…[break][break]

Rhydia moved her hand out to catch the canvas, leaving the easel to its fate at the hands of the Bisharp’s unconscious body, crushed by heavy steel.[break][break]

She took a moment to study it as it lays there, the sight of it giving rise to a small bit of nostalgia for her home, for the pokémon she most commonly saw in and around Nimbasa for their gym leader’s challenge.[break][break]

As she studied the Bisharp though, she noticed that it hadn’t fully hit the ground. In fact, it’d been pressing down upon an odd looking mushroom that she’d chosen to sit near, one that’d been paying her no mind until that moment.[break][break]

That large pink mushroom revealed itself to be a pokémon, and scrambled out from underneath the steel type, shaking menacingly at the pair of them.[break][break]

The sight of it drew a smile from the artist, who simply rose up from her seat and glanced at her ‘Sigilyph’, giving it a single order to follow.[break][break]

”~~Knock Off~~ Wing Attack, Picasso.” Just like that, the winged ~~ghost~~ psychic type swooped down and swatted the Shiinotic with one of its wings, throwing it to the side. Rhydia simply threw a pokeball to follow, wondering if she could get any inspiration out of such a pokémon.

[attr="class","leymain"]Amplexus raises one brow ridge with an I know what you are doing look before he decides to drop the act, turning away from the artwork to face his approaching trainer.

“Good save,” Onyx said, gesturing at the canvas in the stranger’s hands, mildly impressed at her quick reflexes. He watched her make quick work of the Shiinotic, as well, which he hadn’t even noticed.

Amplexus bends down to pluck a flower and pauses as the golden crown-shaped blossom moves, revealing a Cacnea attempting to blend in with the scenery. The Gardevoir puts the cactus to sleep with hypnosis, and Onyx throws a Pokeball.

“Hope we didn’t ruin your painting too much.”
